Our Woo Hoo Girl
We are SOOOOOOOO grateful to the people who threw Addie away 11 years ago and made it possible for us to adopt her. She had a rough beginning--locked in the backyard of an abandoned home in Detroit. Almost starved to death when she was rescued. I was lucky enough to find her at a pet adoption show and brought her home to my husband. She walked right up to him, he said "What do you got there", reached down and scratched her neck, and they were best buds after that. She had a new family, a new backyard to play in, and decided that her favorite spot in the house was laying in a place where she could watch both the front and back doors. Just about every night she would throw her head up in the air and bark, bark, bark. She was, of course, scaring away any burglars that might be lurking :) And, boy, did she love company! That's when she would 'woo hoo' -- make howling noises when someone came over that she truly loved and was happy to see. And about a year after we adopted her, we brought her home a brother--Jake, another awesome dog that was abandoned and lucky enough to be rescued. They were fast friends, playing together, camping together, went for walks together. One of Addie's favorite things was hunting chipmunks while we were camping. She would go into stealth mode, trying to stalk and sneak up on them. It was a ball to watch her. Such an incredible, precious dog and part of our family. We want to thank the people of A.E.C. for being so very kind to us and Addie that last day. As weak as she was she couldn't do any more 'woo hoo's', but she managed to get up and walk a couple steps over to the Doc, wagging her tail all the while. God bless you all.
